What Is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® uses a sequence of plastic, clear, custom-made, and removable aligner trays that are worn over your teeth, and work to slowly move your teeth over time into the position your orthodontist has outlined for you. They are customized to your teeth, using very precise calculations and a specific plan designed with your orthodontist, designed to help move your teeth into their planned positions. The trays are comfortable to wear and virtually invisible to anyone else—they are discreet and difficult to notice.
How Long Will Invisalign® Treatment Take?
While Invisalign® treatment varies depending on the patient, and you and your orthodontist will determine what is right for you, general treatment time is between 9-15 months. Each set of aligner trays is worn for approximately 2 weeks before they are changed out to the next set in the series. You will see your orthodontist every 4-6 weeks in order to check your progress and review your new aligner trays. Aligners are generally worn for 20-22 hours a day for the full duration of your treatment, allowing up to 2 hours per day to remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
